Unfortunately, Norton Utilities lacks SlimCleaner Plus' community-based features that help you determine the apps you should or should not uninstall from your PC. Norton Utilities delivered a noticeable performance improvement the entire OS moved at a snappier pace, even with iTunes or Steam open. One of my favorite Norton Utilities features is the third-party app start-up time measurer, as it shows you the impact of the apps you have set to run when the PC boots.Īfter running the tests, I used the computer extensively to get a sense of how the app had changed responsiveness. I recovered deleted files, permanently deleted others, scrubbed my browser history, and ran various tools with ease. Norton Utilities' real-time system monitoring function enables the app to keep an eye on files, so that it can more effectively tune up your PC.įor the most part, those are solid features that you'll find in just about every tune-up utility of note, and they work well here.
Settings is the area where you tweak options for nearly all of the aforementioned features. Recovery lets you perform five actions, including Recover Lost Files and Restore Registry Backups. Privacy is where you get rid of your digital footsteps by running Clear Your Browsing History, Shred Files, and other functions. Performance lets you run individual tools, such as Clean Your Registry and Defragment Disks.
The Dashboard displays your PC's health, the start-up time for third-party software, free hard drive space, a large one-click optimization icon, and other information. Norton Utilities boasts a clean and easy-to-navigate interface that's divided into five areas.
